Summer Travel Writing Competition

Just found this travel writing competition run by the Guardian. It’s for articles of 500 words about your 2009 summer holiday. There are five categories and the winning article in each category – plus the runners up – will be published in a special issue of Guardian Travel. There are five prize holidays up for grabs too.

  1. Yeah, I’m thinking about entering. It’s just a pity you can’t choose which prize you get. I think it depends on what category you enter so I have to work out how to make my holiday sound like an adventure!

  2. Argh, I got all excited – and, of course, it turns out I am not a resident of the UK, therefore cannot enter. 🙂 Good luck, if you enter – those prizes look AMAZING!!

  3. Oops, sorry owlandsparrow! I should have mentioned that the competition was for UK residents. Hope you’re not too disappointed. If I come across any interesting looking international writing competitions I’ll post the details here.

  4. Oh, no problem. 🙂 I hadn’t even thought to look for travel-writing competitions, since I’m working on my novel right now, but when I saw your post it looked like a fun side project to accompany my editing work. I’ll just have to look around and find one that I’m eligible to participate in!
